The Miss Firecracker Contest
Cahaba Theatre Group is thrilled to continue our 2026 season with The Miss Firecracker Contest by Beth Henley, directed by Dane Peterson, coming Sunday, August 16 to The Dance Foundation in Homewood.

Set in a small Mississippi town on the Fourth of July, this sharp, funny, and deeply heartfelt Southern comedy follows Carnelle Scott, a spirited young woman determined to reinvent herself by winning the local Miss Firecracker crown. Filled with eccentric characters, unexpected tenderness, and Beth Henley’s signature wit, The Miss Firecracker Contest is a charming celebration of hope, resilience, and the wonderfully imperfect search for belonging.
